The Epic Camí de Cavalls 360º will celebrate its seventh edition in 2021, which comes with a full package of news. After the 2020 edition was cancelled at the last minute due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have taken advantage of the blank year to renew several aspects of this unique race.
It will not change, however, its basic concept nor its principles. It will keep being performed through three stages around Menorca, which can be covered on foot or by mountain bike. The philosophy of offering not only a sporting challenge but also an unforgettable experience of coexistence and companionship is also maintained.
New dates: November 5, 6 and 7
The first big news of this year refers to the dates of the event: November 5, 6 and 7. After four editions being held in March, the race returns to autumn. This season has already housed the first two years (2015 and 2016) of the Epic Camí de Cavalls 360º, with a high degree of satisfaction both in terms of participants and organization. This decision also allows us to buy some time so that the pandemic affects as little as possible the event.
The fact that the race is scheduled off-season, from a touristic point of view, remains unchanged. Furthermore, Menorca is especially good as a destination for seasons outside of the summer, when the island’s landscapes are bright and nuanced, and the weather fits better to outdoor sports.
New format: by teams or solo
For the first time, it will be possible to enroll in the Epic Camí de Cavalls 360º in two different formats: the new solo or the traditional two-person teams. This novelty comes to favor participation in the post-pandemic context, which has led to a series of new limiting factors.
In both cases, the race keeps its principles, based on cooperation, coexistence and shared experience. Whoever participates in solo format will compete individually, but not alone.
New route: more coastline
The Epic Camí de Cavalls 360º introduces some course variations every year. This time, there will be very important modifications. The race itinerary will have more kilometers of Camí de Cavalls (GR 223) than ever, and will also feature more coastline kilometers than any of the previous six editions. We have even included unprecedented coastal trails, which will be in a race for the first time.
Therefore, athletes who like to repeat in the Epic Camí de Cavalls 360º will enjoy the variety of landscapes as an extra incentive. Those who participate for the first time will be able to discover some of the most typical picture-perfect views of Menorca, as well as many other lesser-known but equally captivating corners.
The overnight stays between stages will be made at the official race accommodation in Ciutadella and Maó. There, various end-of-stage services will be offered to athletes.
The same Epic Camí de Cavalls 360º as always
All these novelties will not dilute the essence of the Epic Camí de Cavalls 360º. It will still be prevailing its motto: “one island, three stages, one epic adventure”. As always, the routes will have small variations for participants in the modalities of MountainBike (161 km, 2,700 meters of cumulative altitude), TrailRun (160 km, 2,740 meters of cumulative altitude) and Experience (103 km, 1,750 meters of cumulative altitude).
All modalities will be open to male, female or mixed teams, in addition to individual participants.
Registration
Registrations for the 7th Epic Camí de Cavalls 360º 2021 will open in different periods. The first of them will open on February 8, when the first 60 participants will be admitted, at a very special price.
