Three route options
360º MTB route offers a frenetic track, really demanding both at physical and technical levels, with short but intense ascents and slopes. The steep land of the coast of Menorca gives it a great appeal but also a great difficulty. Toughness and fun are guaranteed! The route has three different options to suit the level of the participants:
Standard: tt is the intermediate difficulty route. Runs through the Camí de Cavalls 70% of the route, while the remaining 31% runs through other trails, paved forest roads or roads. By following this route we avoid most –but not all- of the most technically challenging stretches of the Camí de Cavalls.
Plus: follows the Camí de Cavalls most of the time, and it’s only recommended for die-hard mountain bikers. It implies a much higher difficulty than the average of the Standard route, both physically and especially technically. However, the Plus sections also feature some of the most stunning sceneries in the whole tour.
Basic: the Basic option follows the Camí de Cavalls 50% of the distance. It helps us avoid the harder stretches of the Standard route, specifically when an easier and reasonable alternate is available.
Route difficulty
Especially in the Plus option, but also in many sections of the Standard, it must be taken into account that the terrain is really demanding, both physically and especially technically. There are sections that can only be cycled if you have the necessary preparation and skills. In the Plus option there are some sections where the vast majority of mortals have to push the bike.
Most of the route is on a technical path, often very rocky: it can be fun, complicated or extreme depending on the preparation, and above all on the mentality of each participant.
At the end, 95% of the participants say that it has been much harder and more demanding than they could have imagined. In addition, the distance and the elevation are not a good indication of the real difficulty of the route. Therefore, it is very important to correctly choose the number of stages and the route option (Plus, Standard or Basic) to enjoy the route.
* It is not recommended to do it on an ebike, unless you have great technical skills or you opt for the Basic route. It is only suitable for mountain bikes in an optimal state of maintenance.
